BENZENE This chem­i­cal is used to make plas­tics, dyes, de­ter­gents, some med­i­ca­tions and pes­ti­cides. It can ir­ri­tate eyes and in­crease heart rates. TRICHLOROETHY­LENE Trichloroethy­lene is of­ten found in clean­ing prod­ucts that tar­get grease. It can cause dizzi­ness, headaches and nau­sea. FORMALDEHYDE Formaldehyde can be found in wall­pa­per, paints, var­nishes and floor fin­ishes. It can ir­ri­tate the nose and mouth and large doses can cause lung is­sues. AM­MO­NIA Am­mo­nia is an­other one that’s found in clean­ing prod­ucts. It can ir­ri­tate throats and eyes and be re­spon­si­ble for caus­ing coughs. XYLENE Xylene is nor­mally used as a sol­vent and can be found in clean­ing ma­te­ri­als and var­nishes. It ir­ri­tates the nose and throat and can cause dizzi­ness. In more ex­treme cases it’s been linked to liver and kid­ney prob­lems.
