No.1 Reader Make-over
“I hope a make-over will give me the confidence boost that I really need right now...”
A few weeks ago we featured Cathie’s friend Anne in the No.1 make-over. These amazing ladies met at a Glasgow bereavement support group when each sadly lost a loved one.
“My husband passed away last year after a battle with cancer, and I’ve felt a bit lost since then. Our bereavement group are currently planning a holiday and I hope a No.1 make-over will give me a much needed confidence boost for going away.
“I found it very difficult to find motivation after my husband died. I really had to push myself. I still feel that I’m not back to the person I was before, but I hope a No.1 make-over could be another step forward.
“When my friend Anne asked if I would like to take part, I jumped at the chance. I feel I’m in a rut, in need of a challenge and would like to learn more when it comes to beauty. I don’t wear make-up very often and I would like the confidence to start wearing it again. I used to wear it all the time when I was younger, but I don’t bother now.
“I’m hoping to learn how to use different products. Since my hair is beginning to go grey, so are my eyebrows and I’d like to learn how to draw them in correctly. I’m usually too nervous to try things because I’m worried about what it’ll look like if I get it wrong.
“My beauty routine is pretty simple. I start off every morning with a splash of water and then some moisturiser. I’ve been doing this same routine for the past 50 years!
“The thing I am most self-conscious about is my lips. Applying lipstick can be a problem for me because I have small, thin lips. I’m worried about looking like a clown if the colour is too vibrant. It would be great to learn some tips on how to make them appear fuller.
“When it comes to my hair, I’m much more adventurous. I decided to go for a red flash in my hair because I wanted to do something different. I wanted to make it stand out. I tend to go to the hairdressers every six weeks, and decided one day to just go for it!
“However, my hair is very thick and can be a bit unruly and coarse at times! I’m hoping to learn how to tame it but in a way that’s manageable for day-to-day styling!
