A VILLAGE nursery has had its registration suspended amid watchdog concerns.

On Monday the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) confirmed it has suspended the registration of St George’s Day Nursery, St George, near Abergele.

It is understood that parents of children attending the nursery were handed a letter informing them of the decision.

The reason for the move has not been revealed and the owner of the facility, based at Hende Uchaf Farm in the village, declined to comment when we contacted her.

A spokeswoman for the CSSIW said: “Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) inspects and regulates child care services in Wales to ensure the safety and well being of children.

“During the inspection at St George’s Day Nursery there were concerns about the service which required us to take action to suspend the registration of the nursery.

“We will be undertaking further enquiries to seek assurance about the quality of the service.

“Parents and carers can contact Conwy County Borough Council Family Information Service who can provide advice and information on child care provision within the area.”
