New addition to search and rescue
LIFEBOAT crews have been out getting to know a new addition to the search and rescue armoury.
Llandudno RNLI held a joint exercise with incoming search and rescue operators Bristow off Llandudno on Monday, and lifeboatman Luke Heritage was on hand to send us these close-up shots of the new helicopter in action.
The inshore lifeboat got to grips with the new operating procedures of the Sikorsky S-92 which, with its distinctive red and white livery, will replace the yellow Sea Kings of C-flight 22Sqn RAF Valley from July 1.
The new civilian service, which will operate from Caernarfon airport, has been familiarising itself with rescue organisations in the region for the past few weeks.
In Monday’s exercise, “Coastguard Golf Kilo” winched up several of the Llandudno crew as it simulated sea rescues and boat-toaircraft transfers alongside Llandudno’s lifesavers.
