MP backs schools’ pe­ti­tion bid

CL­WYD West MP, David Jones, has wel­comed a del­e­ga­tion from Ys­gol Pen y Bryn, Col­wyn Bay, to Westminster.

The group, of two teach­ers and four pupils, was given a tour of the Palace of Westminster, and then taken to Down­ing Street by David Jones in or­der to de­liver a pe­ti­tion to the Prime Min­is­ter.

The teach­ers and pupils, rep­re­sent­ing the school, trav­elled to Westminster to sup­port the ‘Send my Friend to School’ cam­paign, which strives to en­sure ev­ery child in the world can at­tend school and re­ceive a good ed­u­ca­tion.

David Jones said: “I was de­lighted to be able to welcome teach­ers and pupils from Ys­gol Pen y Bryn to Westminster, and to ac­com­pany them to Down­ing Street to de­liver their ‘Send my Friend to School’ pe­ti­tion.

“I am proud the Bri­tish Gov­ern­ment’s record on sup­port­ing the pro­vi­sion of ed­u­ca­tion in the world’s poorer coun­tries and re­gions is so strong.

“I be­lieve that the Send my Friend to School cam­paign is a wor­thy one, and I com­mend the teach­ers and pupils at Ys­gol Pen y Bryn for their en­deav­ours.”
