Teacher and pupils celebrate
YSGOL Eirias head of languages faculty Beverley Gordon has won the German Teacher of the Year award for setting standards in excellence in the teaching of German as a foreign language, beating a record number of entries from across the country.
Beverley was crowned German Teacher of the Year at a champagne reception at Cardiff City Hall, receiving her award from German Ambassador Dr Peter Ammon in front of Minister for Education and Skills Huw Lewis.
Pupils Ella Dowber and Erica Williams have also been celebrating after taking part in a National Spelling Bee French and German competition. The pair had to learn 200 words and how to spell them using the French and German alphabets.
Ella competed in the French competition and Erica came second in the German.
