Queen of harps cel­e­brates re­vamped venue

THE first birth­day of a re­vi­talised North Wales venue will be cel­e­brated by a spe­cial con­cert.

Em­i­nent harpist Ca­trin Finch will join Côr y Pen­rhyn and young mu­si­cian Pa­trick Rimes in con­cert at Bethesda’s Neuadd Og­wen on Au­gust 1 at 7pm.

Neuadd Og­wen spokesman Dil­wyn Ll­wyd said: “It is a plea­sure for Neuadd Og­wen to present the line-up of our first birth­day cel­e­bra­tions.

“Af­ter spend­ing £820,000 on ren­o­vat­ing the build­ing, Neuadd Og­wen opened its doors of­fi­cially on Au­gust 1, 2014 with Gruff Rhys and San­ti­ago as the open­ing con­cert.

“The last year has seen nu­mer­ous events live on the stage, and af­ter a suc­cess­ful year, we would like to in­vite you all to join us to celebrate these achieve­ments.

“The main act of the night will be the mag­nif­i­cent Ca­trin Finch, who has per­formed with nu­mer­ous well known or­ches­tras all across the world; and will be here on the Neuadd’s stage dur­ing our cel­e­bra­tory con­cert.

“Ca­trin Finch is re­ferred to as the Queen of Harps; her al­bum Bless­ing was nom­i­nated for the Clas­si­cal Brit Award in 2013 amongst her many other ac­co­lades.”
