PO branch will not be moving

North Wales Weekly News - - NEWS -

POST Office chiefs have scrapped plans to move a branch about 100 yards.

Post Office Ltd had proposed switching the counter from its current site on Market Street in Abergele to Whiteside’s convenience store.

The PO said it took into account consultation feedback, politicians’ views and Citizens Advice concerns.

Clwyd West AM Darren Millar, Clwyd West MP David Jones and mayor of Abergele Cllr Sam Rowlands are delighted.

Mr Millar said: “The proposals would have led to a prominent town centre building becoming vacant and difficulties in access for some customers.”

Mr Jones was glad the PO had listened to the majority of people.

The new site would have been about 100 yards away, with limited parking and a narrow pavement.

Cllr Rowlands had started a petition with over 760 signatures.
