Award for off-duty fire­fighter who tried to save bridge fall man’s life

medics who took the pa­tient to hos­pi­tal, who thanks to the help of Chris and the nurse had sta­bilised and given the best pos­si­ble chance for a full re­cov­ery.

Elis Jones, 17, a young in­struc­tor with Prestatyn Young Fire- fight­ers, wit­nessed an ac­ci­dent in­volv­ing a trac­tor, driven by his brother Rhys, that had rolled over twice.

Elis acted quickly and rang 999, made his brother com­fort­able, de­liv­ered first aid and then as­sisted the paramedics with their equip­ment upon ar­rival.

Elis also used his ini­tia­tive in mark­ing out the field with toi­let roll in or­der for an Air Am­bu­lance to land.

Rhys was air­lifted to Wrex- ham Maelor Hos­pi­tal and has re­cov­ered well since the ac­ci­dent in May.

The Air Am­bu­lance team and the paramedics praised Elis for his ac­tions and for keep­ing calm and com­posed.
