Award for off-duty firefighter who tried to save bridge fall man’s life

Elis Jones, 17, a young instructor with Prestatyn Young Fire- fighters, witnessed an accident involving a tractor, driven by his brother Rhys, that had rolled over twice.
Elis acted quickly and rang 999, made his brother comfortable, delivered first aid and then assisted the paramedics with their equipment upon arrival.
Elis also used his initiative in marking out the field with toilet roll in order for an Air Ambulance to land.
Rhys was airlifted to Wrex- ham Maelor Hospital and has recovered well since the accident in May.
The Air Ambulance team and the paramedics praised Elis for his actions and for keeping calm and composed.
