Drinking and driving lands four in court

A MAN was fined £350, disqualifi­ed from driving for 16 months and ordered to pay £35 towards victim services and £85 costs.

Peter Brown, 25, of Rowan Drive, Kirkby-in-ashfield, was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to drink-driving in a Vauxhall Zafira in Nottingham Road, Mansfield. The town’s magistrate­s’ court heard he had 65 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitre­s of breath, over the limit of 35, on July 14.

■ A woman was banned from driving for four years after she was caught drink-driving in North Road, Retford.

Sophie Hakin, 44, of Holly Road, Retford, had 135 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitre­s of breath, over the limit of 35, on July 14.

Magistrate­s gave her a 14-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. She was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115 and costs of £85. ■ A man was banned from the roads for five years after he was drink-driving in Derby Road, in Eastwood.

Peter Thompson, 44, of Torkington Road, Hazel Grove, Stockport, had 46 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitre­s of breath, over the limit of 35, on May 3.

Magistrate­s in Nottingham gave him a 24-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, after he pleaded guilty.

He was ordered to do 80 hours of unpaid work and pay £115 towards victim services and costs of £350.

■ A 51-year-old man was fined £120 and given a three-year driving ban.

Simon King, of Crouch Street, Colchester, was drink-driving in Winthorpe on April 6. Nottingham Magistrate­s’ Court heard he had 53 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitre­s of breath, over the limit of 35. Orders were made for him to pay £30 towards victim services and costs of £200.

■ A 34-year-old man was drink-driving in Alderney Street,lenton.

Rajvinder Bhatti, of Abbey Road, West Bridgford, was caught on July 12.

A test showed he had 69 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitre­s of breath, over the limit of 35.

At court, he pleaded guilty. Magistrate­s banned him from driving for three years, fined him £120 and ordered he pay a victim surcharge of £30 and costs of £85.
