Dawson feels 12 teams are in with chance

Nottingham Post - - SPORT -

NOTTINGHAM Forest are among the teams capable of challenging for promotion - but it is a large competitive group, warns Michael Dawson.

The experienced defender says there is no obvious candidate among them to run away with things, as Wolves did last season even if he would love the Reds to be that team.

“Wolves were by far the best team in the division last season and they ran away with things, deservedly,” said Dawson. “I don’t think there is any team who will do that, this time.

“I’d like to think it could be us. But the league is so tightly competitive, everyone seems to be beating each other, to pick up points.

“You just need some consistency. If you can find that, you have a chance.

“But there are probably 12 teams fighting, with a real chance of promotion. You have to do everything you can, to make sure you are in the top two or in the play-offs.”

Forest moved back into the top six after beating Sheffield United last weekend but, as they prepare to face Stoke City at the City Ground, Dawson says the Reds will not now suddenly be targeting a place in the top two - because that has always been the goal.
