Former pop singer Sinitta, 53, is mum to daughter Magdalena, 12, and son Zac, 11

Hey Sinitta! If your kids were to describe you in three words, what would they say? Caring, loyal and strict. I think that’s a good combination.

That’s great! As a parent, what’s been your biggest challenge so far? I’m learning to be less anxious about things and realise that kids have to be allowed to grow up. It’s important that they go out into the world and make their own mistakes.

Do you get much ‘me time’? I do, actually. I love to read and watch rubbish TV, while commenting about it on social media. I’m loving Celeb Big Brother this year!

Is there a product you can’t live without as a mum? Jelly! It’s fantastic. Summer, winter, whenever – it’s always a treat. Plus it’s easy to make.

How do you ensure your kids eat healthily? I make sure they understand that healthy eating doesn’t mean boring food. My kids love dips and crudités – a great way to fill them up with raw veg.

What’s your go-to dinner? I love making our own ‘healthy pot’ – brown rice and chopped veg, stir-fried with eggs. I’m very lucky, as my children love helping out and are becoming little Masterchefs themselves.

What books do you love to read together? I still love the old Enid Blyton books, as I’ve always been an adventurous type. My children prefer David Walliams; his books are so funny.

How do you enjoy spending time together as a family? At home, we play board games and quizzes together. On holiday, we love going surfing. Sinitta is supporting Macmillan Cancer Support World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 29 September. Find out more at coffee.macmillan.org.uk
