‘I go clubbing with AJ until 3am’
The Saturdays star just can’t get enough of dancing
Pop star Mollie King has been taking advice from best friend Frankie Bridge on how to be the best on Strictly Come Dancing.
The Saturdays singer made her debut on this year’s first live show, dancing the jive to Good Golly Miss Molly, and former finalist Frankie, 28, has been sharing her tips. ‘Frankie and I are close,’ Mollie said of her former band mate, who was a runner-up in the BBC dancing competition in 2014.
‘She told me to go on Youtube whenever I can to see how the professionals do it – knowledge is power, so I’m trying to learn as much as
I can. She gives great advice.’
After Mollie put in such an energetic routine on the opening night of the series, it would be easy to think afterwards she would have wanted nothing more than to kick her heels off and go home to sleep; but instead she went out clubbing with her dance partner AJ Pritchard, 22, until 3am!
‘You’d think the last thing I would want to do is dance, but I can’t get enough of it,’ the 30-year-old says, laughing. ‘I had a great night on Saturday and I was so excited to be on the show that AJ and I just wanted to keep celebrating.’
Mollie, who has been tipped by judge Craig Revel Horwood to lift the Glitterball, admits nerves did get the better of her on the opening night. ‘I was at the end, so it was so long to wait and watch everybody,’ she says. ‘Also, I did the jive – they never used to give anyone the jive in the first week because it’s thought of as difficult.’
But at least the singer has spray tans to look forward to every week... ‘I’m getting my fake tans for free on the show, so I am saving!’ she laughs.
The star has also been busy picking her latest collection for Littlewoods and says there is something for all women in there. ‘There are some sequin and ruffle numbers that I think would be great for dancing the cha cha cha on Strictly!’
