Q

Is it a good idea for my son to get the nasal spray flu vaccine? I’m worried about him having too many! Isabelle, Bristol

Dr Ranj says: Flu is a very common illness and most people affected will be fine. But there is a risk that it could become serious and result in hospitalisation, and even death. The risk is higher if you are very young, elderly, pregnant, or have an underlying medical problem. Since lots of children get the flu virus, and then pass it on to other people, it’s important for them to have the vaccination. The risks from vaccination are small, compared to the benefits they provide.
