Plastic bag brings a halt to train services

Nuneaton Telegraph - - NEWS -

STORM Frank has well and truly arrived in Coventry with trains at the city’s railway station being delayed... thanks to a plastic bag.

A London Midland train was forced to stop near to Coventry station after the offending bag wrapped itself around the ‘arm’ which connects the train to the overhead wires.

The service came to a halt at around noon and then had a knock-on effect on trains between Coventry and Birmingham. Engineers from Network Rail were called to deal with the problem.

It isn’t the first time an inanimate object has caused trouble on the overhead wires in Coventry. Back in May 2014 a pair of trousers caused delays after being flung over the wires, putting the station’s platform 3 out of action for around an hour.
