Hos­pi­tal’s top team re­warded

A TEAM of nurses at Univer­sity Hos­pi­tal in Coven­try has won an award for their ex­cel­lent care for pa­tients with can­cer.

The team were awarded the Lung Can­cer Nurse Team of the Year at the Roy Cas­tle Lung Can­cer Foun­da­tion award cer­e­mony in Wind­sor.

More than 80 nom­i­na­tions were made for the team from across the UK with pa­tients and their fam­i­lies who praised their hard work and ded­i­ca­tion to fam­i­lies deal­ing with can­cer.

One per­son said: “We know we have their sup­port, noth­ing is too much trou­ble for them.”

As well as tak­ing home a tro­phy, the nurs­ing team were awarded £500 which will be spent on buy­ing an in­for­ma­tion trol­ley and neb­u­liser ma­chines that are pro­vided to pa­tients in their own home that can help with breath­ing dif­fi­cul­ties.

Ni­cola Jackson, lung can­cer nurse spe­cial­ist, said:“We are ex­tremely de­lighted to have been nom­i­nated and win this award.

“We feel priv­i­leged to do our jobs and we pride our­selves on pro­vid­ing an holis­tic ser­vice for all of our pa­tients and their car­ers.”
