Hospital’s top team rewarded
A TEAM of nurses at University Hospital in Coventry has won an award for their excellent care for patients with cancer.
The team were awarded the Lung Cancer Nurse Team of the Year at the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation award ceremony in Windsor.
More than 80 nominations were made for the team from across the UK with patients and their families who praised their hard work and dedication to families dealing with cancer.
One person said: “We know we have their support, nothing is too much trouble for them.”
As well as taking home a trophy, the nursing team were awarded £500 which will be spent on buying an information trolley and nebuliser machines that are provided to patients in their own home that can help with breathing difficulties.
Nicola Jackson, lung cancer nurse specialist, said:“We are extremely delighted to have been nominated and win this award.
“We feel privileged to do our jobs and we pride ourselves on providing an holistic service for all of our patients and their carers.”
