The man, who doesn’t want to be identified, says a man attempted to get into his £25,000 VW Golf on Tuesday night.
He’d stopped at a red traffic light on Kingfield Road when a car pulled up adjacent to him.
He said: “The lights were red, and the cars were going into single file because of the roadworks.
“But the first car that went to file in pulled up adjacent to me. It had three people in it, and the driver rolled down the window, stopping traffic to do it all.
“The passenger got out the back and came round to my car and tried to open my back door.”
“I heard them mumbling something so thought it was a case of mistaken identity. I tried to move round the cones within the roadworks but then the guy who got out the car went to open the driver’s door, and then tried to break the window.
“If it wasn’t me, but a more vulnerable person, it would have been terrifying.
“They pulled right up to me, but in some way, it didn’t really sink it what was happening until I got home.
“I’m now more angry than anything that these people can get away with something so sinister like this.
“I’ve spoken to the police and they said they would be investigating.”
West Midlands Police said: “I can confirm we are investigating a report of three men trying to get into a car at a set of traffic lights on Kingfield Road at the junction of Lockhurst Lane at around 9.30pm on Tuesday May 24.”
