Girls fainted, cried, and cre­ated pan­de­mo­nium in 1963 as Beatle­ma­nia was unleashed - and the frenzy was in a dif­fer­ent league from any­thing that had gone be­fore. Girls dreamed about which Bea­tle they’d marry. Paul was cute, but Ringo was fun and Ge­orge was the one you picked if you liked the shy type. John was more in­tim­i­dat­ing, mind you. Lov­ing the Bea­tles gave young fans a sense of com­mu­nity. And ut­terly mys­ti­fied their par­ents. What wasn’t to like?
