Cancelled marathon will NOT be rearranged

Nuneaton Telegraph - - FRONT PAGE -

THIS year’s Coventry Half Marathon has been postponed until 2019 after a new date could not be agreed.

It was cancelled on Friday March 16 over concerns about the dangerous weather conditions predicted for the weekend it was due to go ahead.

Thousands of runners had signed up for the popular run but with snow and ice forecast across the region organisers decided it was too dangerous to allow the event to go ahead.

The run was due to take place on Sunday March 18, but runners are going to have to wait another year to attempt the 13.1 mile course.

John Abell, Coventry University’s Student Union manager said: “Unfortunately it is not possible to postpone the race to a future date in the next month or two.”

All registered entrants will get a full refund on their race entry. They will also receive a discount for the 2019 race.
