News Bail for two men ar­rested af­ter city shoot­ing

TWO men ar­rested fol­low­ing the shoot­ing of Coven­try man Daniel Shaw have been bailed.

Po­lice ar­rested the 22 and 47-yearold af­ter Mr Shaw was shot in Co­p­land Place, Tile Hill, at around 11.15pm on Sun­day. He died at the scene.

De­tec­tives had yes­ter­day been ques­tion­ing two men on sus­pi­cion of con­spir­acy to mur­der .

They have both now been re­leased on bail “pend­ing fur­ther en­quiries”.

A post-mortem ex­am­i­na­tion is set to take place to es­tab­lish the ex­act cause of death of 28-year-old Mr Shaw.

Po­lice have con­firmed he was found with gun­shot wounds to the chest.

De­tec­tive Chief In­spec­tor Chris Mal­lett, from West Mid­lands Po­lice’s Homi­cide Team, said: “We have made sig­nif­i­cant progress with our in­ves­ti­ga­tion; although we’ve made these ar­rests, we still need peo­ple to come for­ward.

“I’d urge any­one who was in Tor­ring­ton Av­enue or Co­p­land Place at around 11pm on Sun­day evening who hasn’t al­ready spo­ken to us, or any­one who’s heard or seen some­thing sus­pi­cious that could be con­nected, to get in touch. Daniel’s fam­ily are dev­as­tated and we are keep­ing them fully up­dated with the lat­est de­vel­op­ments.”
