News Grinning e-fit is not a joke say police
WARWICKSHIRE Police has moved to reassure social media users that a bizarre e-fit going viral today IS real.
Police released the unusual e-fit of a man they are looking for in connection with a distraction burglary in Warwickshire on Tuesday.
The man and another accomplice struck at a property in Hertford Place, Stratford , and left with a quantity of cash between 2pm and 2.36pm on February 5.
A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: “We can confirm that this is real and that we anticipated the attention! But jokes aside, it was created from a description provided and it’s serious as a woman was victim of a horrible crime.”
Since the image was issued by police, it has had more than 800 retweets on Twitter and 600 likes on Facebook . The crime The two men claimed to be from Orbit Housing and tricked their way into the flat.
One of the men – the one whose e-fit the police have released – distracted the woman, in her 40s, while the other man searched the property.
When the victim realised what they were doing she ordered them to leave. The men left with a quantity of cash. Officers are asking anyone with information to call 101 quoting incident 220 of 5 February 2018.
