MARK Robins ad­mits he is well aware of the need for Coventry City to get points on the board – but in­sists his pro­ject is head­ing in the right di­rec­tion.

The Sky Blues head to Oxford United to­mor­row hav­ing won only one of their open­ing six matches in League One this sea­son. Robins knows that re­sults are im­por­tant – even at this early stage – for City who sit in 19th po­si­tion in the ta­ble.

The man­ager is de­ter­mined, though, to make a suc­cess of his bid to de­velop his tal­ented group of young play­ers within a set sys­tem and iden­tity.

“It’s a great game to be in­volved in,” said Robins. “It’s a game on Sky against near neigh­bours and they’re a good team and it’s a big game for ev­ery­one and one to look for­ward to. We’re work­ing hard to in­stil a way of play­ing that peo­ple en­joy watch­ing. We’re play­ing good stuff and cre­at­ing chances, I think I would be more wor­ried if we were not cre­at­ing chances.”

De­spite some en­cour­ag­ing per­for­mances, goals have been the main con­cern. “I’m pleased with a lot of as­pects of our play,” said Robins.
