Nuneaton News Sweep­ing changes to towns’ bus routes

SOME bus ser­vices will be axed and oth­ers changed when sweep­ing timetable changes come into force across Nuneaton and Bed­worth.

Stage­coach Mid­lands has re­vealed the changes it plans to bring in on Jan­uary 5 next year and it in­cludes the loss of some ser­vices.

It fol­lows a sweep­ing re­view of the timetable and will see some stops with­drawn, some ser­vices axed al­to­gether and changes to the times of buses.

Among the changes pro­posed in­clude the Num­ber 10 will no longer run­ning to Hinck­ley, the 17B ser­vice from Coven­try – Cor­ley – Ar­ley – Gal­ley Com­mon – Stock­ing­ford – Nuneaton be­ing axed and the num­ber 57 in Bed­worth, which calls in at Ash Green – Keres­ley – Coven­try, be­ing re­moved and some stops be­ing re­placed by the num­ber 56.

A spokesper­son said: “In Septem­ber Stage­coach be­gan a process of re­view­ing its en­tire bus net­work across the Mid­lands. Over this pe­riod de­tailed anal­y­sis has taken place to re­view pas­sen­ger num­bers on each route and ways of tack­ling ser­vices which are not com­mer­cially vi­able.

“Fol­low­ing de­tailed con­sul­ta­tion with War­wick­shire County Coun­cil over the last few months Stage­coach is now in a po­si­tion to re­veal the changes which will come into ef­fect on the Jan­uary 5 2019.

“Some ser­vices will be re­tendered by War­wick­shire County Coun­cil and hope­fully they will be able to pub­lish the out­come of these in the near fu­ture.”
