The allegations relate to claims of sexual abuse at St Martin’s primary school in Fitton Hill between 1979 and 1982. THE community have come together to remember one of their own with a Macmillan coffee morning.

Staff and customers at Aaron J Wines, on Owler Lane, Chadderton, have organised the charity afternoon in memory of Ann Beckett.

Ann worked at the shop for 13 years but sadly lost her battle with pancreatic cancer in July.

A special coffee morning in her honour is to be held this Saturday from 11am.

Her husband George, said: “This is to celebrate Ann’s life while supporting the nurses who helped maintain her dignity right to the end.

“It’s quite moving that her old colleagues, friends and customers have done this for her and I’m really touched by the sentiment.”

Admission to the event, which will include a host of stalls, raffle, tea and cakes, is free.
