Oldham Advertiser - - FRONT PAGE -

SHOPPERS were entertained with some of their favourite festive tunes as Brass Monkeys returned to the town centre.

A host of brass bands from Diggle, Dobcross and further afield turned out to entertain shoppers at the free event.

Performers at the event’s two stages included the Fairey Band who performed ‘Acid Brass’ and the funky new sounds of Mr Wilson’s Second Liners, the Explosive Baja Brass Band and one-man band Trundlehonk.

Councillor Jean Stretton, Oldham council’s cabinet member for town centres, culture and tourism, hailed the return of the event a great success. She said “Brass Monkeys proved very popular last year and people welcomed the sound of brass bands as they did their Christmas shopping.”
