Oldham Advertiser - - #OLDHAMLIVE -

MEMBERS of a youth theatre are among the youngest in the country to become ‘Dementia Friends’.

Oldham Theatre Workshop is performing a play to raise awareness of the condition.

They took part in special session carried out by Oldham Dementia Partnership to get vital insight for their Christmas production Moments.

The play is told through the eyes of both young and old and touched on the issue of dementia and how we learn to live with and without our memories.

Craig Harris, applied theatre practitioner, said: “We wanted to change perceptions around the subject of dementia.

“The young people really embraced the Dementia Friends sessions and were not afraid of asking lots of questions to Sue Neilson who led them.”

Moments will be performed at the Old Museum, on Greaves Street, at 7.30pm from Wednesday to Saturday, until December 20.

Tickets cost £6 and are available by calling 0161 770 3240. To take part in a Dementia Friends workshop visit dementiafriends.org.uk
