Bridal shop raided just weeks before it’s due to open for business
WEDDING dresses worth some £10,000 were stolen when thieves stripped a bridal shop bare – before it had even opened for business.
Mum-of-one Jackie Dijon, 38, says her dream of running her own wedding boutique has now been obliterated before it could even become a reality after thugs ransacked the store which was due to open in the new year. The crooks completely cleared out Bespoke Wedding Boutique, on Oldham Road, Failsworth.
They even pilfered tea, sugar and toilet rolls, along with 15 wedding dresses and more than £5,000 of evening wear and accessories. Police are now investigating the break-in. Ms Dijon, from Moston, was preparing for life after her current career as a singer but said the raid had left her new business ‘in tatters’.
She said: “I am truly heartbroken. I’d put my heart and soul into getting this off the ground and now I’m having to start again from scratch before I’ve even had chance to open.
“Things were shaping up really well, we even had a couple of bookings from ladies who’d seen us doing the renovations as they passed by and wanted to get their dresses before we were officially open for business.
“The hardest part has been ringing them and telling them their dresses have gone.
“I’ve been a singer for a long time but I’m coming towards the end now and I was ready to start a new chapter in my life – it was a dream of mine that was finally happening.
“But they’ve taken everything, from tea and sugar right down to the radiators, I can’t believe how been.”
A neighbouring shop discovered the raid as they opened up on Thursday, December 4.
The thieves had smashed their way through an external gate and the front door before ransacking the shop.
Prom dresses, shoes, tiaras and veils were also stolen.
The boutique – near the junction with Ashton
they’ve Road West – had been set to open on Monday, January 5.
Police are now investigating to see if they can track down the crooks and have asked brides-to-be and other businesses to be wary of suspect bargains.
Anyone with information about the theft should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
