GENEROUS Rotary Club members have been busy spreading some festive cheer.

The Rotary Club of Crompton and Royton has managed to raise more than £3,500 for a number of charities through a week-long cash collection.

With the help of Crompton House pupils and members of Royton ATC, members took to the streets and supermarkets.

They also treated the residents of Shawside Nursing Home to a Christmas lunch at the All-in-One Garden Centre in Middleton.

The members teamed up with Thornham St James and Firbank primary schools, St James’ Church East Crompton, St Saviour’s Church Buckstones and volunteers from the Terence O’Grady Club to fill 400 shoe boxes full of festive goodies for disadvantaged children.
