Thugs all had a string of previous convictions
THE three robbers, all from Oldham, were high on drink or drugs at the time of the raid and all have strings of previous convictions.
Nathan Riley, 19, of Longfellow Crescent, Sholver, was handed six years and eight months in a Young Offenders Institution after he also admitted possessing an imitation firearm and robbery over a raid at a nearby shop a few hours before the raid at the Cones.
Paul Boyce, 28, of Mardale Close, Greenacres, was jailed for seven-and-a-half years.
Drug addict Elliott Howells, 23, of Mackenzie Walk, Sholver, was out of prison on licence for a six-year jail sentence at the time of the robbery.
He was jailed for eight years.
Det Con Kate Dawson said: “These three men subjected a couple in their seventies to a truly terrifying and traumatic ordeal. It is unthinkable to be awoken in your own bed and confronted by masked intruders pointing a gun at you and threatening to shoot you. This couple were absolutely petrified and had no idea whether they would be killed or not. It is the sort of heinous crime that will leave them with emotional scars for a long time.”
