Tom, 19, has been offered a seat at Churchill College to study Engineering.

He left Crompton House with four A* grades in physics, chemistry, maths and further maths last summer and decided to take a gap year before applying for university.

Headteacher Karl Newell said: “I am delighted for these two hard-working students.

“With their academic success, together with their voluntary work and desire to push themselves personally they are great role models for the rest of the school.

“They both took advantage of what we have to offer here at Crompton House.”
