A HOUSING scheme which has lifted more than 1,000 people out of fuel poverty has won a prestigious award.
The Warm Homes Oldham project has been named Partnership of the Year at the Housing Awards in London.
The scheme – set up by the council, local NHS clinical commissioning group and Oldham Housing Investment partnership – hopes to help residents struggling with rising energy bills with grants for new boilers and free insulation for their houses.
The Warm Homes team assess each case individually and around 80 per cent of those who have been helped say it has had a positive impact on their general health and wellbeing.
