Art students are thanked for their work on a new sporting venue

Oldham Advertiser - - NEWS -

ART students who helped shape the look of the region’s new Futsal hub have been rewarded for their efforts.

The town is now home to the north west’s main centre for the growing Brazillian five-a-side footballing craze.

Oldham College’s art and design students were instrumental in designing the new facility – from creating pitch-side decoration to external banners.

The team of 25 teenagers returned to the @Futsal Arena, which is based at the college and opened in November, to be presented with a special hoodie and gift vouchers.

Jo Manship, head of faculty at the Digital and Creative Career College, said: “This project highlights the success of Oldham College’s approach to vocational education which involves providing real life work experience for our students.

“They have created original designs, worked as a team, responded to objectives, met deadlines and made formal presentations, all of which helps to prepare them for the working world. We are really proud of our students and this successful collaboration with the Futsal arena illustrates how our approach to education is working well.”
