2 firms re­cruited to help com­plete leisure cen­tre project

EVEN more peo­ple are to be helped out of fuel poverty thanks to an award-win­ning scheme.

The Warm Homes Old­ham scheme is to be rolled out for the third year run­ning.

To date, al­most 2,000 peo­ple have ben­e­fited from grants to make their homes warmer and more en­ergy ef­fi­cient. A fur­ther 38 house­holds in Failsworth and Lime­side have signed up for home im­prove­ments this year.

An ex­ter­nal wall in­su­la­tion scheme has also started on 85 First Choice Homes prop­er­ties on the Holts es­tate.

Jill Chad­wick, one of the res­i­dents to ben­e­fit, said: “The past cou­ple of win­ters have left me freez­ing in my own house.

“I’m so ex­cited to see the end re­sults and reap the benefits.”

The Warm Homes Scheme is funded by the coun­cil, the clin­i­cal com­mis­sion­ing group and Old­ham hous­ing in­vest­ment part­ner­ship with the work car­ried out by re­gen­er­a­tion spe­cial­ists, Keep­moat.
