Get out and en­joy great out­doors

EN­JOY the great out­doors at some fan­tas­tic events or­gan­ised by West Lan­cashire Bor­ough Coun­cil’s Parks and Coun­try­side Ser­vice Rangers in April.

The Clieves Hill Cir­cu­lar Walk, on Mon­day, April 3, is a six-mile ram­ble around Orm­skirk ex­plor­ing foot­paths through the wider lo­cal coun­try­side.

The walk is open to all and will be set at a re­laxed, man­age­able pace. Meet at the Bowl­ing Green Pavil­ion, Coro­na­tion Park, at 9.50am for a 10am start.

On Sun­day, April 16, the rangers are host­ing a 12-mile guided walk through the coun­try­side of Burscough and Ruf­ford on the Burscough Wet­lands Walk.

The walk cov­ers open coun­try­side, with a fo­cus on wildlife-rich wood­lands and wet­lands.

Meet at Platts Lane Car Park, Burscough, at 9.50am for a 10am start.

Vol­un­teers can help the rangers with the Tawd Val­ley Park clean-up on Satur­day, April 22, start­ing at 10am.

They will be clear­ing lit­ter and de­bris from the river and foot­paths and mak­ing this hid­den jewel in the heart of Skelmers­dale sparkle a lit­tle bit more brightly.

Meet at the lower car park (near­est the river) be­hind Skelmers­dale Li­brary at 9.50am for a 10am start.

Please be aware that this is a prac­ti­cal coun­try­side event and dress in ap­pro­pri­ate cloth­ing and footwear. A pair of de­cent work gloves is ad­vis­able.

Then on Satur­day, April 29, peo­ple can en­joy a Bee Sa­fari around Bea­con Coun­try Park with ex­perts from Lan­cashire Wildlife Trust’s ‘Plan Bee’ project. There will be talks about bees, their im­por­tance and what we can do to help them.

Meet at the Vis­i­tor Cen­tre, Bea­con Coun­try Park, Up Hol­land at 1.50pm for a 2pm start. Un­der-16s must be ac­com­pa­nied by an adult at all these events.

Please wear ap­pro­pri­ate footwear and cloth­ing for each event.
