FROM the Bee­ston Re­view, w/e June 2 CAT­TLE PRIME BUTCH­ERS CAT­TLE -Best light weight heifers raced away to 230p/kg on two oc­ca­sions for John Gate’s 12mo Blonde and 14mo Li­mousin, both heifers weight­ing 460kg. Stronger heifers looked well sold, with none as­sured heifers all in ex­cess of the £2 bar­rier, with a Charo­lais from Messrs Wil­liams, Wrex­ham sell­ing for 207p/kg and Blue’s from lo­cal ven­dor An­drew Williamson gross­ing £1187, with all heifers sold in this sec­tion av­er­ag­ing £1116 per life. Steers looked par­tic­u­larly dear on the day, with the best on the day sell­ing for 212p/kg for E Wil­liams, fol­lowed closely by P R Moseley’s Li­mousin at 209p/kg. POUL­TRY Fam­i­lies dom­i­nated the high prices with Buff Or­p­ing­ton Hen and 11 Leg­bar chicks £42, Broody Hen and 11 Pekin chicks £32, Hen and 10 chicks £22, Pekin Hen and 8 chicks £20. Other stock fetched bet­ter prices with a Mini Rex Doe £26, 3 Pol­ish Hens £16 (all prices per head). A New Zealand Red Buck fetched £12. A large Tur­key stag sold for £10 with 2 hen Tur­keys sell­ing for £8. Two pairs of Welsh Har­lequins sold for £12. PIGS Pork­ers to 175p/kg, Cut­ters to 175p/kg, Ba­con­ers to 172p/kg, Sows to 84/kg, Boars to 37p/kg, Store Pigs to £58 per head. Less pigs on of­fer but an ex­cel­lent trade. There was a new buyer which made the trade a flyer. Pork­ers sell­ing to 175p/kg (£172 per head) Sows sell­ing to 84p/kg (£264.60 per head) SHEEP Spring Lambs to 290p/kg, Spring Lamb av­er­age 248.43p/ kg, Hogget to 200p/kg, Hogget Av­er­age 166.64p/kg, Spring Lamb & Hogget com­bined av­er­age 231.14p/kg. Slightly less on of­fer but still a good en­try. Please note this time last year 374 for­ward and av­er­aged 212p/ kg, with a top price of 238p/kg for spring lambs. This year 734 for­ward av­er­ag­ing 231.14 to a top of 290p/kg for spring lambs. PO­TA­TOES New po­ta­toes to £15 per bag FRUIT & VEG Not as much on of­fer this week due to the Bank Hol­i­day, more ex­pected next week PRO­DUCE De­cent trade for Win­ter Bar­ley Straw with Big Bale Loads at £86 per tonne and £85 per tonne. Small baled Hay made £3.00 per bale.
