Town’s Derby by-election prompts reminders of how you can cast vote

Ormskirk Advertiser - - Advertiser Farming -

VOTERS in West Lancashire Borough Council’s Derby Ward will go to the polls on Thursday, June 29 for a by-election to elect a new councillor.

If you live in Derby Ward you can vote in the elections even if you can’t get to your polling station on that day.

If you don’t think you will be able to go to your polling station then you can apply for a postal vote.

Alternatively you can apply for a proxy vote, where someone you nominate can go to your polling station to vote on your behalf.

Kim Webber, West Lancashire’s returning officer for the by-election, explained: “You don’t need to be away or be housebound to apply for a postal or a proxy vote.

“Anyone who wants to vote in this year’s election, either by post, proxy or going to the polling station, must be on the electoral register.”

To apply for a postal or proxy vote form call the elections office on 01695 585014, email elections. office@westlancs.gov.uk or download an application form from www.westlancs. gov.uk/howtovote.
