Students ’appy with digital win
DIGITAL students from West Lancashire College have been celebrating after they became overall winners of the Digital Advantage competition, run by the Pop Up Digital Agency, for their car share app for festival goers.
The students have been working with Skiddle – a website that sells tickets for events, festivals, gigs and clubs – which fully endorsed the app following a presentation of their business plan.
Skiddle managing director Jamie Scahill said: “I am so impressed by the students’ idea, work and enthusiasm.
“I will gladly back the ideas they have for their app – it’s a brilliant idea.”
The students competed with nine other schools and colleges presenting their idea to a panel of judges at County Hall in Preston.
They won with a unanimous decision from the judges.
As well as the winning title, students took away £2,000 to further develop their app.
Course tutor Anjuman Robinson said: “I am extremely proud of this fantastic achievement and the hard work and dedication the students have shown to this project and I am over the moon with the final result.
“I very much look forward to working with the students to further develop their innovative app.
“Well done to all involved - watch this space for the launch of WLC car share app!”
