Bus stop knocked down in smash

PO­LICE were quickly on the scene af­ter a driver lost con­trol and crashed, de­mol­ish­ing a bus stop and a lamp post in Maghull.

The crash hap­pened in Sefton Lane on Satur­day evening (July 15).

No-one was stand­ing at the stop at the time, and no in­juries were re­ported.

The scene was cap­tured on cam­era by the roads polic­ing unit.

An of­fi­cer from the unit is­sued a state­ment on­line, writ­ing: “Sin­gle ve­hi­cle RTC on Sefton Lane, Maghull.

“Driver lost con­trol and de­mol­ished a lamp post and a bus stop. Re­ported for care­less driv­ing.”

The in­ci­dent came on the night that po­lice traf­fic of­fi­cers had a busy evening set­ting up a num­ber of drink and drug check­points around Mersey­side.
