CHANGES to one of Skelmersdale’s key bus services started on Monday (July 24).

The 313 service operated by Arriva, which serves the Ashurst and Birch Green areas, has being withdrawn to be replaced by two new services funded by Lancashire County Council.

Service 312 will operate from Skelmersdale Concourse to Wrightington Hospital via Appley Bridge, and service 313 will operate from Skelmersdale Concourse to Burscough via Birch Green, Ashurst and Parbold.

The services will run at similar times to the previous 313 service, from Monday to Saturday during the daytime.

Lancashire County Council’s cabinet agreed that the new services could be justified under the council’s policy for consideration of tendered bus services as a high number of people in Ashurst rely on the 313 bus to get to work, education and other vital services, with no alternative available.

Timetables for the new services are available from Skelmersdale Concourse and Skelmersdale library.

Find them online by searching for timetables at lancashire.gov.uk.
