Support’s up, up and away!
UP, up and away for local causes! This summer our wonderful neighbours, Tesco Southport and McDonald’s in Kew, have come together to organise a fantastic charity balloon race.
Queenscourt Hospice and Southport Spinal Unit are delighted to be the chosen charities for this local event.
The lovely neighbourliness continues with the exciting release of the balloons taking place at Kew Woods School on Thursday, September 7.
This is sure to be a wonderful day, both for the children and everyone involved!
Lesley Kirkbride, Tesco Southport Community Champion, hopes ‘‘local people will get behind this charity event to support good causes and that the children from the school will really enjoy being a part of it.’’
It’s just £1 to enter and each balloon will have a special tag, which is to be returned by the lucky person who finds it.
There is of course a prize for the owner and the returner of the balloon that travels the furthest distance.
Maybe the winner will breeze down in the beautiful Lake District, possibly it’ll touch down in our bustling capital city or even the sunny beaches of Spain.
In fact, back in 2013, a schoolboy in Derby took place in a similar balloon race and his made it a staggering 10,545 miles to a back garden in Australia! So we have high hopes! Alex Chattaway, McDonald’s Store Manager, is delighted to be supporting two local charities with such a fun community event and is pleased to confirm that all their balloons are biodegradable. So rise with us and take to the skies! Join in with this wonderful fundraiser to help provide a special kind of care in our community.
Balloons can be purchased from Queenscourt Hospice, Southport Spinal Unit, McDonalds Kew and Tesco Southport.
