Get into the sea­sonal spirit with rangers

OC­TO­BER is a great month for free fun park events or­gan­ised by the West Lan­cashire Bor­ough Coun­cil Parks and Coun­try­side Ranger Ser­vice.

On Mon­day, Oc­to­ber 2 the rangers will lead a sixmile Burscough Loop walk, start­ing from the en­trance of Rich­mond Park at 10am.

No book­ing is re­quired, sim­ply turn up and be ready to set off on time.

On Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 4 the lat­est Or­chard Restora­tion Day takes place at Bea­con Coun­try Park in Skelmers­dale.

It is part of a se­ries of events to re­store the Bea­con Park Or­chard and is an ex­cel­lent op­por­tu­nity to find out more about or­chards and how to look after fruit trees. This event starts at 10am. To book, call 01695 622794.

Chil­dren aged five-12 can dis­cover the won­der­ful colours at this time of year with sea­sonal crafts and ac­tiv­i­ties at the Ju­nior Rangers Au­tumn Watch events.

These take place at Rich­mond Park, Burscough, on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 14 and Stan­ley Coro­na­tion Park, Skelmers­dale on Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 15, start­ing at 2pm.
