Councillor’s station visits

Ormskirk Advertiser - - Martin Mere -

COUNTY Councillor Nikki Hennessy, a member of The Lancashire Combined Fire Authority, visited her local fire stations on Friday in Ormskirk and Skelmersdale.

Cllr Hennessy, who used to work for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service as a care services liaison officer, was given a tour of the fire engines, fire stations and sat down to talk to the firefighters about their experiences.

She said: “I have huge admiration for the firefighters, both wholetime and retained, and I want to thank them for keeping our communities safe.

“I know from my time as both an employee of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and as a member of The Lancashire Combined Fire Authority that firefighters are incredibly brave and very professional. This was highlighted to me when I was talking to them about some of the fires and incidents they have attended and when they gave me a demonstration of equipment.”

This Saturday, October 14, Ormskirk Fire Station is hosting a car wash between 10am and 3pm to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity which helps treat injured firefighters and their families.
