Ul­tra-marathon run­ner Scott wins Ex­cel­lence Schol­ar­ship

THE Maghull Wind Or­ches­tra has raised over £1,000 for the strug­gling peo­ple of Dancu in Moldova.

The 80-strong band per­formed at Maghull Bap­tist Church on No­vem­ber 18 where ad­mis­sion was free but do­na­tions amounted to £1,215.

Brian Pile, ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor of the char­ity Bread­line, said: “My heart­felt thanks go to the mu­si­cal di­rec­tor Phil Shot­ton and all mem­bers of the Maghull Wind Or­ches­tra for their won­der­ful per­for­mance on Satur­day night which raised a mag­nif­i­cent amount to­wards our work with poor fam­i­lies in Dancu.

‘‘Words sim­ply can­not de­scribe just how en­cour­aged and blessed we are through the kind­ness and sac­ri­fice of all in the or­ches­tra.’’

Mr Pile added: ‘‘As I said on the night the real celebri­ties are not those we see on the TV screens, but the peo­ple the world doesn’t see, work­ing tire­lessly be­hind the scenes to give oth­ers a pur­pose in their lives which does so much to en­rich their com­mu­ni­ties.”

Orm­skirk based gar­den de­signer Lee Burkhill, the Gar­den Ninja was named as a fi­nal­ist at the gar­den­ing ‘Os­cars’. Lee was a fi­nal­ist in the ‘Alan Titch­marsh New Tal­ent’ cat­e­gory at the Gar­den Me­dia Guild Awards, where he was recog­nised for his gar­den de­sig

The Maghull Wind Or­ches­tra raised over £1,000 for a project in Moldova

Trainee teacher Scott Parry, is an ul­tra­ma­rathon run­ner, who reg­u­larly clocks up 100km – or 62 miles – and has raised thou­sands of pounds for char­ity. His ded­i­ca­tion has now been re­warded with an Ex­cel­lence Schol­ar­ship from Edge Hill Univer­sity.
