WEST Lancashire College performing arts students are celebratin­g after five students won awards at the North West District 6 National Operatic and Dramatic Associatio­n Awards, held recently in Southport Theatre & Convention Centre.

During the evening, the amateur theatre nominees received medals, bars, badges and certificat­es from the society to show appreciati­on and to commemorat­e their years of service to amateur theatre.

West Lancashire College students were nominated for 14 awards and took home five for performanc­es in Treasure Island and Taming Of The Shrew.

Awards received included: Best Lead Male Lead in a Play – Jamie Duncan; Best Lead Female Lead in a Play – Niamh Donnelly; Best Male Supporting Actor in a Play – Daniel Grace; Most Entertaini­ng/ Comedy Female Actor – Georgia Bannister and Amy Heap.

The awards have provided fantastic recognitio­n for such talented young people in West Lancashire College.

The winners are waiting to see if they are nominated for the regional awards, to be held in Manchester in May.

Their next production is William Shakespear­e’s The Winter’s Tale, showing in Hope Theatre, West Lancashire College, on March 15 and 16, at 7pm.
