THE Great Get Together will be bringing the community to Edge Hill University from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, June 22.
Creating an event for everyone to enjoy, staff, students, and members of the local community are welcome to enjoy crafts, live performances and a free barbecue.
The Great Get Together is a community event celebrating the life and beliefs of Jo Cox: compassion, understanding and optimism. To find out more visit www.edgehill.ac.uk. ENJOY Phil Shotton and his quartet – who regularly perform alongside many national and international jazz artists and have played at major festivals.
With a tenor sound similar to Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster and Dexter Gordon, Phil is gaining the reputation of a highly sought-after soloist.
The quartet includes Dr. Tom Sykes, piano; Matt Lawton, double bass and Jez Finch, drums.
The Red Bar at Edge Hill will become a cabaret-style jazz club and the quartet will entertain you by playing jazz standards from the 1930s onwards and popular songs from the American songbook – swing music at its best!
During the second half, the audience can ‘sit in’ with the quartet and experience playing with a professional group.
Jazz in The Red Bar will be on Monday, June 25 at 8pm. For more visit the university’s website or call 01695 584480.
