Bot­tom club Burscough still look­ing for first win af­ter lat­est loss

AINS­DALE pre­vailed in Satur­day’s South­port derby, beat­ing Fleet­wood Hes­keth by 98 runs thanks to a stel­lar bowling per­for­mance from Mal Swift. The ex­pe­ri­enced seamer took 7/27 to skit­tle the hosts for just 65, af­ter Ains­dale had racked up 163/9.

Or­rell Red Tri­an­gle re­main top of the First Di­vi­sion af­ter they bowled Wi­gan out for 73 in re­sponse to 138 all out, but South­port & Birk­dale are just one point be­hind af­ter they beat Birken­head Park by 73 runs. Park’s Ah­mad Safi Ab­dul­lah took 7/59 as S&B de­clared on 195/8, a to­tal un­der­pinned by Adam Phillips’ 59. Then it was over to Gary Keedy, who spun out 6/32 to wrap up the win. Wavertree earned their first win of the sea­son in their south Liver­pool derby with Sefton Park, post­ing 142 de­spite Rob Houghton’s 6/32, then blow­ing Park away for just 73 – Matt Na­tion took 5/41 and open­ing part­ner Ro­mario Grif­fith 4/17.

Liver­pool took 60 overs to post 138 at Prestatyn, and ran out of time to seal the win as the hosts closed on 115/8. Peter Cas­sidy took 6/26 for the Welsh side, and Robert Rim­ming­ton’s un­beaten 58 se­cured the draw af­ter his side looked lost on 24/5. Burscough re­main bot­tom, with­out a win, af­ter New­ton-le-Wil­lows chased 121 with five wick­ets to spare.
