Girls cell-bound on Brownies visit
PARBOLD Brownies enjoyed a tour of Skelmersdale police station – and even got to try out the police cells for size.
They were all amused when Brown Owl, Sandy Smith, accidentally locked up one of the other Owls plus several Brownies in one of the cells.
Fortunately, the custody sergeant was on hand to set them free again.
The group sampled prison food and were shown inside a large police van complete with riot gear.
They also saw and heard the blue lights and sirens in action and were able to sit in a police car as well as trying out a police motor bike for size.
A Brownies spokesperson said tht the girls really enjoyed their visit, learned a lot about policing and were very grateful to all the officers who came along to talk to them.
Anyone interested in volunteering to help more girls enjoy opportunities like this with the Brownies is asked to contact Parbold district team member Sandy Smith on 01257 463407.
