Po­lice hunt fuel sta­tion raider

A MAN made off with £140 af­ter rob­bing a Skelmers­dale petrol sta­tion on Satur­day night.

Po­lice are ap­peal­ing for help to find the man, who is de­scribed as white and about 40.

He was dressed in a dark coat with the hood up, lighter track­suit bot­toms and train­ers.

He threat­ened a cashier at the Shell garage, on Gr­ishaw Road, at about 9.20pm be­fore leav­ing the scene on foot­paths in the di­rec­tion of Windrows and Wil­low Hey.

Mul­ti­ple po­lice ve­hi­cles were sent to the scene and Lan­cashire po­lice is now ask­ing for help to find the of­fender.

Det Con Kelly Rosenthal, of Skelmers­dale CID, said: “We have launched an in­ves­ti­ga­tion fol­low­ing a rob­bery in Skelmers­dale.

“A man has en­tered a petrol sta­tion and threat­ened a staff mem­ber be­fore mak­ing off with cash.

“If you saw any­thing un­usual or sus­pi­cious, then please call po­lice im­me­di­ately.”
