Girls’ big walk for hospital

Ormskirk Advertiser - - Student Life -

WEST Lancashire schoolgirls Emily Gautrey and Emma Joyce have raised more than £1,200 for Alder Hey hospital after completing a 20 kilometre sponsored walk.

Emily, from Hesketh Bank, and Emma, from Tarleton, came up with the idea in memory of their friend, Lauren Menzies, who passed away last December after contracting sepsis.

The girls, both 14, wore purple and blue – Lauren’s favourite colours – as they walked around the villages for five and a half hours in the wind and rain.

Cars pulled over at the side of the road to donate as the girls continued their fundraising effort.

Alder Hey cared for Lauren, and a Justgiving page is available for further donations. Search on the following link: www.justgiv fundraising/ emilyemma
