Panto is put back 12 months
THE annual Burscough Panto has been cancelled for 2021, becoming the latest event to fall victim to coronavirus.
The pandemic and all its related restrictions means no pantomime will be held at Burscough Methodist Church as planned and the ‘Rome and Away’ show will therefore be pushed back by 12 months.
Announcing the disappointing news, the organisers joked that the cast “have been provided with their scripts so they should know their lines perfectly by 2022”.
In a statement announcing the decision, they said: “It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that our annual pantomime scheduled for 2021 is postoned until 2022.
“Unfortunately, coronavirus has scuppered our plans, like it has so many other activities.
“We have had to consider restrictions on gatherings, requirements of cleaning regimes and risk assessments affecting our ability to even start rehearsing which we would have needed to do in just three weeks’ time.
‘The organisers added: “Sadly, even if we could have sorted a rehearsal regime there is no guarantee that we would be allowed to perform to an audience by the end of January 2021.”
